Hamilton Creek runs through the beautiful city of Burnet. Kids have fishing tournaments and old cars are show cased during the Bluebonnet Festival in the spring. There are jogging sidewalks on each side of the creek for your pleasure! Burnet is just a wonderful place to live, work, and play. Our chain of lakes is only about 13 miles away where you can enjoy boating, skiing, or fishing. Come for a visit to our area or come to stay! We are a friendly town loaded with southern hospitality. Burnet is located just 13 miles from our chain of highland lakes. The lakes on this chain are along the Lower Colorado River Basin and are Buchanan, Inks, LBJ, and Lake Marble Falls. All of these lakes are held at a constant level except for Lake Buchanan and Lake Traivs which are the storage and flood control lakes. Travis and Lake Austin are a lower part of the chain of lakes and both Buchanan and Travis provide dependable water supplies to households, communities and for agriculture and industry along the river. This chain of lakes is managed by LCRA and there are six dams, each with its own generating station. There are quite a few lake area communities with waterfront homes and off water homes. The off water homes are priviliged to use Property Owner Parks for lake access. These lakes are a major attraction for homeowners and visitors and LCRA maintains public parks on each of these lakes. There are numerous golf courses in our area and most of them have homes in the golf course area. You owe it to yourself to come and see our beautiful Hill Country Area.
